West Region Sleep Center is an independent organization of caring physicians and highly trained technicians. The Sleep Center is a division of Ohio Chest Physicians (OCP) and is not affiliated with any hospital or medical institution. Our doctors are specialists in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease, and have additional training in the area of Sleep Disorders.
Paul C. Venizelos, MD, FCCP, FAASM
Dr. Paul Venizelos graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1972. He attended the Ohio State University School of Medicine and obtained his MD in 1975. Upon graduation Dr. Venizelos completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio and his Pulmonary Fellowship at the University of Illinois. Dr. Venizelos became a board certified sleep specialist in 2001.
Linas F. Vaitkus, MD
Dr. Linas Vaitkus graduated from Boston University in 1975 with a Bachelor or Arts degree. He obtained his MD in 1979 from Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Vaitkus completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic and his fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. Dr. Vaitkus became a board certified sleep specialist in 2009.
Babu M. Eapen, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM
Dr. Babu Eapen graduated from The University of Kerala in India with a Master of Science degree and obtained his MD in 1983 from The University of Kerala. Dr. Eapen completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland and his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University Hospital of Cleveland. He became a board certified sleep specialist in 1997.
Robert B. Gerber, MD, FCCP
Dr. Robert Gerber graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts in biology in 1993. He obtained his MD in 1995 from the University of Missouri. Dr. Gerber completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut and his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the Cleveland Clinic.
Gregory G. Hickey, DO, FCCP
Dr. Gregory Hickey graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. He attended the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and received his DO degree in 1984. Dr. Hickey completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Metrohealth Medical Center and his Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at the University of California Irvine Medicine Center
Basma Ricaurte, MD
Dr. Basma Ricaurte graduated from King Saud University and Medical College in Saudi Arabia in 1991. She obtained her Ohio licensure in 2007. Dr. Ricaurte completed a residency and fellowship in Internal and Pulmonary Medicine in Saudi Arabia. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine as well as a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Ricaurte became a board certified sleep specialist in 2012.
